Pedestrian killed in Park West-area hit-and-run

A predawn hit-and-run on a Park West-area freeway offramp left an unidentified pedestrian dead Friday.

The man was struck by a vehicle of unknown make and model on the Hawthorn Street exit from northbound Interstate 5 about 12:45 a.m. Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol. The victim died at the scene.

Following the deadly impact, the motorist continued driving and left the area, CHP public-affairs Officer Kimberly Gonzalez said.
