Crowds travel from across world to watch Lancashire’s ‘craziest’ sport – pictures

The World Gravy Wrestling Championship took place at the Rose ‘n Bowl pub in Stacksteads, Rossendale on Monday Bank Holiday.

Fundraising for East Lancashire Hospice, the event has continued to grow in popularity with hundreds gathering to watch the event.

The fun day featured a host of stalls and activities for the family as well as the wrestling which takes centre stage.

The quirky event started in 2007 and was featured in the Guinness Book of World Records in 2019.

In previous years, hopefuls have jetted in from all over the globe to compete in this iconic competition.

Participants can also raise funds for their own chosen charities, whilst grappling in the gravy.
