Hotel says it has ‘corrected all matters’ after one-star hygiene rating

The Last Drop Village Hotel and Spa in Bromley Cross was given a one-start food hygiene rating by the Food Standards Agency, which normally indicate “major improvements” are needed.

But the hotel’s management have moved to reassure the public and say that they have already taken steps to address the issues that were found and which were confined to one of the venue’s five kitchens.

General manager Mike Evans said: “It was in one kitchen, what we call the hotel kitchen, that is the kitchen that they visited.

“We’ve got five kitchens in total in the hotel.

“That was the kitchen they visited, and we did receive that review, but we’ve corrected any matters that were brought up in the inspection.

“We’ve applied for reinspection, but obviously local authorities have set times to work to.

“But we’re now in a situation where we’ve rectified it and we wouldn’t have applied for a reinspection otherwise.”

The Last Drop Hotel and Spa has long been one of the most popular venues in the region, having been built out of a converted 17th century farm building back in the 1960s.

It has been a popular venue on Hospital Road in Bromley Cross ever since.

According to the Food Standards Agency the Last Drop Hotel was given a one-star rating overall, based on three areas inspected by a food safety officer.

This was according to the standards that they say they found at the time of an inspection carried out on Sunday, September 21 this year.

The inspectors ruled that improvement was necessary in both hygienic food handling and in cleanliness and condition of facilities and building.

They ruled that major improvements were necessary in the management of food safety.

According to the Food Standards Agency’s website, management of food safety refers to “system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future”.
