Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul married his long-time partner Thananon Niramit in an intimate ceremony at his private residence in Bangkok on Friday morning, with family members and a senior government official serving as witnesses. It is Mr Anutin’s third marriage.
The couple registered their marriage at home with officials from Dusit district office officiating. Mr Anutin’s daughter Nainpak and son Saranee, along with Unsit Sampuntharat, permanent secretary for the Interior Ministry, witnessed the ceremony. Mr Anutin also serves as Interior Minister.
The date held special significance, which might come as a surprise to people from some other cultures. Friday the 13th of February is considered an auspicious “victory day” in Thai astrology, coinciding with Saturn’s movement out of Leo and Aquarius.
Mr Anutin, 59, and Ms Thananon, 39, first made their relationship public in 2022 at Government House and have since appeared together at numerous official functions.
Ms Thananon, born on Jan 14, 1986, in Ranong province, is a businesswoman and former politician. She comes from a family in the automotive parts business and graduated from Triam Udom Suksa School before earning a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Thammasat University.
