Two in hospital after 3 vehicle smash

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) was called to the scene of the crash on Tonge Moor Road just after 4pm today (Sunday).

They said that five people were treated at the scene by the North West Ambulance Service, but another two had to be taken to hospital.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officers were also at the scene.

The crash took place at the junction between Tonge Moor Road and Thicketford Road in front of Heron Foods.

Fire crews were on the scene for over an hour and a half.

Eyewitnesses said that a baby was in one of the cars.

A spokesperson for GMFRS said: “At just after 4pm today (Sunday 9 February), fire crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Tonge Moor Road in Bolton.

“Two fire engines from Bolton and Bolton North and the technical response unit from Leigh attended the incident which involved three vehicles.

“The crew arrived quickly and worked to make the vehicles and the area safe. Five people were treated at the scene by colleagues from North West Ambulance service before tw were conveyed to hospital.

“Firefighters were in attendance for approximately seventy-five minutes.”
