Man arrested after alleged ‘threats to endanger life’ incident at town hall
A large emergency services presence descended on the One Stop Shop entrance to Bolton Town Hall at around 1.50pm today, September 5.
Multiple fire engines and police vehicles were seen on Le Mans Crescent, with the area outside the entrance being cordoned off.
It is understood that a man was in the building in a balaclava and a bucket hat and holding a bottle with a clear, yellowish liquid in it in one hand, and a lighter in the other.

A man was seen being led out of the One Stop Shop by police just after 2pm.
The air appeared to smell of petrol as he was walked to a police van.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “A man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of making threats to endanger life.
“No injuries have been reported.”

Multiple firefighters and police officers were seen going in and out of the town hall.
An ambulance on scene (Image: Newsquest) Officers could be seen holding an evidence bag, in which was a plastic bottle with clear, yellowish liquid inside it.
On the other side of the building, what appeared to be workers and were gathered in Victoria Square, appearing to have been evacuated, while fire alarms sounded from the town hall.
The cordon was lifted at around 2.15pm, before three police vehicles left the scene.
An ambulance arrived at around 2.20pm, before being joined by an advanced paramedic at 2.30pm.

A spokesperson for Bolton Council said: “Please be advised that the council’s One Stop Shop is closed for the remainder of today following a police incident.
“We would like to thank the emergency services for their rapid response.
“The service will be open as usual on Monday morning.”
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that they were in attendance at the scene.
