The government has advised motorists to avoid some Bangkok streets that will be used for the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group from Oct 12-18.

Deputy government spokeswoman Ploythalay Laksameesaengjan said on Sunday that special security and traffic management measures would apply during the meetings at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre and on roads to central business areas of Bangkok.

She advised motorists to avoid:

  • Ratchadaphisek Road from Rama IV intersection to Asok-Sukhumvit intersection.
  • Sukhumvit Road in Nana, Asok and Prom Pong areas.
  • Rama IV Road in Klong Toey area and in front of the convention centre.
  • Roads from Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports to central business districts of Bangkok.

Commuters in these areas should use electric trains if possible, and closely follow traffic closure announcements.
