Thai Airways International has promised the best has yet to come after climbing up the global rankings and entering the top 20 best airlines list.
This year’s Skytrax World Airline Awards saw the Thai carrier moving up nine spots to 20th in the best airlines ranking, with Singapore Airlines regaining the top position after being surpassed last year by Qatar Airways.
The economy class of THAI was ranked 15th, up five notches from last year, while Cathay Pacific Airways topped the category.
THAI cabin crews were in 10th place this year, one place higher than last year, with the best going to Cathay Pacific.
The Thai airline also rose to 7th from 11th last year in the best airport services category, which is led by All Nippon Airways.
The Thai carrier emerged from rehabilitation only last year, and has pledged to do even better in the future. “We remain committed to raising the bar and striving for even higher rankings in the years to come,” THAI said after the rankings announcement.
THAI chief executive officer Chai Eamsiri was named CEO of the Year by the Bangkok Post last year for steering the formerly ailing airline out of the red.
